Baba Abu The Flute (Children's Workshop)
Abu the Flutemaker is a Baltimore-based musician, performer, and craftsman who uses music and creativity to inspire self-expression, perseverance, and empowerment. Known for transforming everyday objects into imaginative musical instruments, Abu creates everything from drums made from coffee cans to flutes, horns, harps, and percussion instruments crafted from repurposed materials.
He has performed and led instrument-making workshops at schools, community organizations, festivals, and cultural institutions across the country, including the Reginald F. Lewis Museum, American Visionary Art Museum, and National Aquarium. His interactive performances invite audiences of all ages to experience the joy of making music—and often to pick up one of his creations and play along.
