Bulla en el Bario is a Bullerengue group based out of New York, specializing in the traditional genre of music and dance which originated in the Caribbean region of Colombia. Bullerengue was originally performed to celebrate a girls transition into womanhood during period, and thus is primarily performed by women. The Bulla en el Bario group was founded in New York in 2014 by member Carolina Oliveros, who was born in Barranquilla, a Carribean city in Colombia. They began performing in Central Park, and grew from there.
