John Tyler, Mama Walks On Water
and Lafayette Gilchrist
The Baltimore Rhythm Festival is a community based celebration of the diversity and unity of rhythm based cultural expression in our city and beyond. This year, following our free outside festival event in the yard and surrounding streets of 1600 Guilford Ave., we showcase three outstanding performers the Baltimore Design School in the outdoor Garden Amphitheater.
John Tyler, a Baltimore-based musician, will open the show with an eclectic and inclusive mix of jazz/r&b/indie/rock performances. We will continue the evening with internationally recognized jazz pianist and composer, Lafeytte Gilchrist. An evening of familiar vibrations will culminate in a performance by Wapagea Walks on Water (a.k.a. Nataska Hummingbird Youssef), an accomplished singer, songwriter, poet, and cultural educator.
